On this day, 26th November 1865, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (commonly shortened to just Alice in Wonderland) was published.
The book, by Lewis Carroll (born Charles Lutwidge Dodgson), has not been out of print since.
Although many artists have since illustrated Alice, the original illustrations were done by John Tenniel (1820-1914).
