Prelude to Christmas

I've had so much going on in the last couple of weeks it's been impossible to make time to write the blog. I've had a constant head and neckache too which has made me pretty miserable but as it's not too bad today, I've been looking at a few books. Or perhaps it's the other way round - I've been looking at books as my little escape which has actually relieved the stress a little. Must do it more!

One of the downloadables that you get free when you sign up on Printable Heaven is one that I love - 'I Hate Dignity' which is a picture from the Patchwork Girl of Oz by L. Frank Baum. The book is from the Oz series by the author from which the film the Wizard of Oz came.

The Wizard of Oz is a Christmas favourite of course. So many of us grew up watching this film every year, me included. Seeing it gives me lovely warm fuzzy Christmas feelings. Sadly, I put it on for my children and they found it boring and wandered away. Kids today!

But anyway... The Patchwork Girl of Oz is from c.1913 and contains lovely pictures by John R. Neill. Here are a few:-

I love films, all sorts of genres, so I do hope to get time to watch a few this Christmas. I'm sure I'll find that The Wizard of Oz is on some time - I'll record it and perservere with the chldren, perhaps they'll grow to like it too!
