I came across a book today from 1939 that contains beautiful illustrations by an artist I haven't heard of before called Fern Bisel Peat. I haven't been able to find out anything about the artist which is a shame. I do love the illustrations, though, which have more than a hint of patchwork about them.
I love the cat and the dog images especially. The book they are from, by the way, is called Stories Children Like which includes several childhood favourites including the Three Little Pigs and the Ugly Duckling.
