Regular readers will know that I love finding artists I've never heard of before and this one, Nellie Syrett, is even more intriguing as I can find out absolutely nothing about her.
She seems to be associated with Aubrey Beardsley who, despite his early death, contributed greatly to the development of the Art Nouveau style.
These pictures are from a 1900 book entitled The Other Side of the Sun.
I love the poster-style quality of these pictures. The first one, depicting the children and the little angel in the clouds, is my favourite. This one would look great in a frame in a child's bedroom or nursery.
