More Walter Tittle

On a previous post I talked about Walter Tittle and interesting enough, a reader has just commented on that post to say that his mother-in-law posed for Mr. Tittle when she was young.

These pictures are from another Walter Tittle illustrated book called 'Colonial Holidays' - and stunning they are too!  It would have been lovely if perhaps the little girl pictured here had turned out to be this lady but having done the maths, unfortunately it couldn't be - this book is from 1910 and the lady in question only died a couple of years ago at the age of 96.

Shame - would have been a lovely family mystery solved wouldn't it!

Here are the pictures:-

It's worth noting for our UK readers that these pictures won't be out of copyright until 2016, they are already out of copyright in the US.

First World War Centenary 4th August 2014

10 o'clock tonight marks the start of Britain's involvement in the First World War, a war that would see the deaths of 9 million combatants, making it one of the deadliest wars in history.

This poem is by Julius S. Berg, first published in 1921.

I'll see what else I can find through the day today.
